Cutting tofu
The way tofu is cut partly determines its flavour, but mainly its appearance. And that’s important if it’s to be worthy of an Instagram photo.
You can cut tofu into cool shapes using standard kitchen equipment.
Use a grater to achieve a fine structure: great as a salad topping. Or tear it roughly with your hands. Mash the tofu with a potato masher or fork. If you have a spiralizer, make tofu spaghetti.
If all you have is a cook’s knife, cut the tofu into triangles or into French fries. Or as thin as cooked meat: then you can make ultra-crisp tofu. So you see, an endless number of possibilities!
Before you start cutting, squeeze the tofu well! That makes it easier to cut and also easier to incorporate. If you need more inspiration, take a look at this short film.
